Book Synopsis
In the vast Superstition Mountains of Arizona, Asher Kismet embarks on a camping trip with his family, joined by his childhood crush, Thea Winfred. When they arrive at the campsite, they discover the cave where his grandma vanished two decades prior. With rain on the horizon and the sky dimming, his family is forced to set up their camp. Asher plans to make the best of his trip by focusing on Thea. Unfortunately for him, she has her eyes glued to his story-telling grandpa.
Escape becomes dire as a creature of the cave threatens his family’s safety. With his best friend and little sister in tow, Asher feels the world weighing down on his shoulders as he runs from everything he once knew and loved. Disoriented and trapped by the elements of nature, Asher and Thea fall into a mythical world beneath the crust of the Earth. With every step in this new world, he yearns to reunite with his lost sister and old life. As the sole mortal in Aufeni, he learns what it’s like to be at the bottom of the food chain.
Meanwhile, Thea materialized in Aufeni with her own glaring problems to face. Sexy problems. Unsure of her purpose in this foreign realm, she must rely on her newfound powers and dwindling sense of self. She was wrong to think she knew the history of her family. She encounters unexpected allies willing to assist her in finding Asher and his sister, despite the beasts searching for her. Her unique heritage sets a target on her back, and the element thrumming through her veins is strong enough to make powerful men want her dead.
Together with their new friends, they navigate a strange world and confront their own fates. Will they find a way back to the crust of the Earth, or will they make Aufeni their rightful home?
